Slavery Connection

Some time ago I was able to contact a lady that was a descendant of a slave that had been owned by my ancestor. If you would like to read her account of how we got in touch with each other read her blog at the following site:

Colin...Just read and enjoyed the article. I'm a decendent of Nathaniel and Willis Folsom, the latter being a circuit riding minister/interpreter, who is buried at Pocola. In articles referring to him in the Chronicals of Oklahoma, it was metioned that he was in the Skulleyville area quite frequently. In the article, I noticed an Emaline Folsom listed as one of the slave owners. I have no knowledge of her, but considering the circumstanses, I'm sure somewhere up the line she is related...Just thought it was interesting! My best to you and your family.Rocky.

"Rocky", Rocky Rockman?
Rocky, I think Emaline was Nail Perry's sister. I'll need to check it though. How about Sweeney Folsom; you kin to him? There was a Folsom around Heavener when we were kids. Do you remember his name?

Your probably thinking of either Loren"curley"Folsom or Pat Folsom.I have heard of Sweeny Folsom and considering that the "woods were full of Folsoms" he was priobably located somewhere in the family tree.

Yes, both those Folsoms "ring a bell" in my memory. It was probably Pat that I was thinking of. The Perrys and McCurtains are both my ancestors and I have a chart around here somewhere that shows where the Folsoms fit in with these families. I'll try to remember to look for it.
Where do reside now?

Yes Sir, we live 7 or 8 miles south of Bixby out in Okmulgee County. Can you see Sugarloaf too. Earlier you mentioned the "Chronicles of OK". Do you have access to the Magazine? Our e-mail is colinapeggy@olp.net. Drop me a line and I'll send you info about a story that happened not far from your neighborhood. The last time I remember seeing you; you had brought me a shotgun that Dad asked you to bring to me in Edmond. Remember that?

Rocky, A quick recollection, As I recall being told Sweeney Folsom's allotment was located in the area just SE of the intersection where the Poteau/Heavener HW crosses the old Poteau/Wister road.
